Strathspey Railway
On Thursday, Aug 7 (my brother Mike’s birthday) Gail and I had High Tea on the Strathspey Railway. It’s a steam locomotive operating a ten mile track from Aviemore to Broomhill. We started the day watching our woodpecker friend out back.

We made our way to Aviemore. In front of the train station, we found another of those Hospice HeArts.

The engine is repositioned…

… and is now on the other end of the train.

Getting ready for tea

Beautiful countryside

Our first stop: Boat of Garten

We stop next to a very fancy train, called the Royal Scotsman, that offers “land cruises”. Prices range from £5,300 per passenger for 2 nights to £23,650 per passenger for the 7 night grand tour.

The River Spey

More beautiful highland countryside

We turned around at Broomhill. While they repositioned the engine, we got out to stretch our legs.

The moors

We had a great time on the train, enjoying High Tea.
Tomorrow, we plan to have breakfast at the Wee Puffin, a restaurant that serves traditional Scottish food. And we might even visit the beach in the afternoon.
