Happy Anniversary

Friday, August 22, was our 16th wedding anniversary. Photo of us with Edinburgh Castle in the background. It was sold out for Friday and Saturday. We decided to return on Sunday.

The Castle without us

The Fringe Shop

We went here yesterday. I went back to talk with the Deacon today.

Me on the Royal Mile

This guy let you hold the owl for 5 pounds.

We didn’t pay, but this woman did

St Giles Cathedral

Walking down the Royal Mile, we would often see bagpipers

The Writer’s Museum

We wanted to go here for lunch. Fortunately, it wasn’t open yet, although it was supposed to be. I say “Fortunately” because had we gone here for lunch, we wouldn’t have gone to The Alchemist for dinner.

Princes Street

Castle Rock

New College, Edinburgh University, christened the Assembly Hall for the Fringe

House with a cat statue

Royal Scottish Galleries

Princes Street

Next to our bus stop, this guy was creating sand art

We went back to the Airbnb for lunch, and returned later.

These women were distributing leaflets for shows. The one on the left was in a restrictive costume that wouldn’t let her pick up a leaflet when she dropped one.

We went to see the musical Sunshine on Leith. Leith, once a separate town, is now the harbor district of Edinburgh.

The plot: Two soldiers from the British Army, Davy and Ally, return to Edinburgh after touring Afghanistan. However, they find it difficult to adjust to their routine lives and spend time with their families.

We, of course, couldn’t take any photos or recordings during the show, so these are of the ballroom beforehand. But it was very exciting, and moving. It had a fantastic cast and a soundtrack by the Proclaimers. We thoroughly enjoyed it.

After the show, we went to The Alchemist for dinner and drinks. They have drinks that change colors with other affects. I had Get Iced.

And Gail had Lavender Rain

Happy Anniversary!!

Tomorrow we’re going to another Fringe show, Out of the Blue, by an acapella group from Oxford.
