Last Day in Zaragoza

Let’s start with some photos of a fantastic sunset from May 27, the day before our last day.

Our last full day in Zaragoza (5/28) found us going a little further afield. From June 14 to September 14, 2008, Zaragoza held an international exposition on “Water and Sustainable Development .”

The expo was a little past our normal walking range, so we took public transit to get there. This photo shows a different perspective on the Lady of the Pillar Cathedral, from the expo site.

Ken found a climbing structure that he just had to climb

This is an interesting sculpture called “Alma del Ebro”, the soul of the Ebro. It was created by Catalan artist Jaume Plensa

We wondered what this large structure was.

Turns out it was part of the Mobility Museum or Mobility City.

Supposedly, there are a lot of cool exhibits of how we got around in the past, how we get around now, and how we may get around in the future. I say “supposedly” because there was a special event going on, and it was closed to the public .

The best parts of the day, we didn’t photos of. While we were resting on a bench in the shade (a common accurance), a maintenance worker came by and asked where we were from. We chatted for 15 to 20 minutes, using Google Translate. It was great. We told her we were going out for paella afterwards. She said the only place to have real paella was in Valencia, because it was vegetable based there, not rice based as in the rest of Spain.

And I should have taken a picture of the paella we shared (enough for lunch and dinner). But I didn’t. Afterwards, we returned to our Airbnb, to prepare for our departure tomorrow.

Barcelona, here we come!
