Last Day in Denmark

Our Airbnb was next door to Next Door Cafe. (It took us a minute to decode the sign.)

On our last full day in Copenhagen, Tuesday, Juky 29, we finally ate there. Gail had a “dirty croissant” (bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion).

Lovely views outside our back windows.

In the square where we took the elevator (see structure on lower right) to catch the metro stands Copenhagen City Hall.

At the main entrance to Frederiksberg Have (Garden) stand the Statue of Frederick VI. The kids aren’t always there. We called them the runners. There was a group of about 8 kids, exploring the park with their mothers. These kids ran ahead of the others and then stopped for the rest to catch up.

At the bottom of the hill in front of Frederiksberg Slot, there is a fountain. Gail captured the rainbow it created

Next to the park is a zoo.

Peeking into the zoo, we saw the flamingos.

A little further on, we saw the elephants. We didn’t have to peek in. The zoo has created an elephant viewing area from the park.

And a baby

There was a little stream through the park that you could pay to row a boat on.

At one end of the park, there was a small pond with a little fountain

where we say this guy

We ate lunch at the restaurant you see through the trees. They served smørrebrød, open faced sandwiches with very unusual and tasty fillings. For dessert, we had koldskål, recommended by our waitress, a yogurt like dish made out of buttermilk with fruit and crumble.

Our last full day in Copenhagen was a nice one.

Next: on to Utrecht!!
