Quick Tour of Budapest
Budapest consists of two parts, divided by the Danube River: Buda is the older, hilly side and Pest, where we are staying. We weren’t feeling well on Tuesday (6/3), so we mostly stayed in. We did venture out to get some goulash and langos (sort of a cross between fried bread and pizza).
Today (6/4), we took a Hop On Hop Off bus to see some sights of the city. We started out from our Airbnb:

We caught the Hop on Hop Off bus close to the Budapest Eye.

We (well not us, but the bus driver) drove by the Opera House.

Next was Heroes’ Square.

Here we find statues featuring the Seven chieftains of the Magyars and other important Hungarian national leaders.

We drove past the train station

To the New York hotel (where we didn’t get a picture of it, just its gargoyle)

Here’s a picture of the Urania National Film Theater

And Astoria (we didn’t see any goonies, though)

We passed by beautiful apartment buildings

We went over to the Buda side, where we saw the St. Gerard Sagredo Statue

I don’t know if this is a view of Pest from the Buda side or Buda from the Pest side. Neither does Gail nor Google Lens. I think it’s the former, but wouldn’t contradict anyone who said the latter. All I know is the river is the Danube, that we’ll be cruising on in a few days.

Another view of the Danube:

This is Liberty Bridge

And the Chain Bridge, the oldest bridge across the Danube in Hungary

There were beautiful towers

Interesting structures

The Hop On Hop Off tour got way too hot, so we got off near our Airbnb and had lunch

Near rubber duckies and other souvenirs

Where we went to the restroom with the most elaborate staircase I’ve ever seen to get to a rest room

We finally headed home, passing this building on the way.

Thanks for sharing your travels with all of us!
