Regensburg

On Sunday, June 15, we said “until we meet again” to Ken and Cathy, and took a bus with Lynn and Scott from the ship in Passau to Regensburg. Before we left, we saw a cool heron cooling on the banks of the Danube:

The bus dropped us off by the train station. We wanted to find a coffee house to get somthing to drink after our hour and a half bus ride. We found this place, but it was all full. We wanted to go back to this place when it wasn’t full, but although we passed by it many times in our journeys in the city, it was either full or closed.

We were able to check into our Airbnb early. It was an interesting place. Upstairs was at ground level. There were two bedrooms and a bath here. Downstairs was the living / dining room, kitchen, terrace and another bathroom.

We went out to get some food. We stopped at a vegan place called…

There are normally cats here, but they were between cats at this time. We loved their vegan “burgers”, surprisingly because I normally find vegan “meat” somewhat disappointing.

On Monday, June 15, we explored Regensburg. Typical apartments in the city

An old door with a current Epiphany house blessing.

This house dates back to 1675. The expression 20 * c + m + b * 25 refers to the Epiphany house blessing tradition, specifically for the year 2025. The letters “C”, “M”, and “B” represent the traditional names of the Three Wise Men (Caspar, Melchior, and Balthazar) or the Latin phrase “Christus Mansionem Benedicat” (May Christ bless this house).
