Reykjavík Botanical Garden

We checked into our Airbnb in the Reykjavík suburbs on July 1. Ken and Cathy joined us later that day. It was rainy most of July 2, so outside of a few food runs and going to the local bakery, Passion Reykjavík, we did little on those two days. Our Airbnb is spacious and has a lot of quirky things like:

On Thursday, July 3, we went to Reykjavík’s Botanical Garden near here

On our way here, we passed by a sculpture called Móðir Jörð (Mother Earth) by Björk Tryggvadottir

We also saw an unnamed cat playing in puddles

We had lunch in a great place inside the garden call Kaffi Flóran. We should have taken a photo inside; it was teeming with plants and vines. But we didn’t. Outside again their were lots of beds of flowers, and this sculture, called “Cascade” for obvious reasons.

I snuck a photo of Gail.

There were several ponds and bridges. Ken and Cathy goofing around.

Another photo of them

A duck sleeping.

Another stealth photo of Gail

We saw this cool church, called Áskirkja. I think it’s a Catholic church, built in the 1970s, and dedicated in the early 1980s.

Across the way, in the distance, was a building that looked like another church, but is the Reykjavík Maritime School.

On our way back to our Airbnb, we passed by the frisbee golf course, but didn’t play

We finished our walk with another visit to Passion Reykjavík (our third in 3 days).
