San Isidro (first day in Madrid)
We arrived yesterday, the last day of the San Isidro (the patron saint of Madrid) festival. The locals pronounce Madrid with a soft “d”, according to Gail. To my untrained ear, it sounds like Madree. Most of the festivities were at a park (Jardin de las Vestillas) directly across from our Airbnb. At noon the crowd was pretty tame, mostly school kids and people our age (we shall not call then elderly).

By 17:00 the view from our window, looked like this:

By 21:00, we had to show the contents of our bag of groceries to the police, and fight our way through the crowds to get into our building. It shows how tired we were that we were able to sleep through the rock music that blared outside when we decided to go to sleep at 22:00
Looking forward to reading about your adventures
See you soon!
