Kerrera is accessible from Oban by a 5 minute ferry ride. Only residents, of which there are about 60, can have motorized vehicles on Kerrera.

Gylen Castle is a ruined castle at the south end of the island of Kerrera. Built in 1582 by the Clan MacDougall, it was burned slightly afterwards and recently restored.

Dunollie Castle is a small ruined castle located on a hill north of Oban. The site enjoys views of of Kerrera, the town, harbour, and outlying isles.

Fingal’s Dogstone. Legend has it that the giant Fingal left his dog Bran when he went off hunting. Some say that you can see the marks from the dog’s chain where it circled and circled the stone, trying to break free.

Tomorrow, we leave Oban and head to Edinburgh.
